Basic Dance School Information

Our Mission

Is to give our dancers the love of dance, learning many types of dance, while developing and gaining healthy physical fitness, with the ability to take part with confidence many different kinds of events and opportunities throughout their school years and on into to their adult life.

Pre Dance / Creative Movement Available to students starting at 3 years old.

Dancers learn combination Tap / Ballet Classes offers many benefits to the dancers! Following direction confidence team work discipline corporation, waiting their turn with classmates song & dance enjoying use of dance class / and show performance props. Learning both Tap and Ballet, the dancers learn to dance both ballet and tap as a foundation and combination for all dance types of dance. Ballet helps the dancer’s muscles balance, and grace. Tap provides an excellent means for developing muscles and rhythm. By combining both tap and ballet dancers gain great movement and physical fitness.
Combined tap/ballet or tap/jazz to our dancers at no extra charge, making dance more affordable for all our dancers.
In all the dance schools I studied with I’ve found the true love of dance in the smaller to medium size schools.
We are proud and really enjoy, getting to know our dancers, as well as their parents and family. And share their pride in the dancers accomplishments

JMSD - Dance lessons Registration fee $20.00 - Family rate registration fee will be adjusted. Dance lessons are $36.00 a month

The average month will have 4 weekly lessons, some months may have 5 lessons, it is the same cost with holidays or a bad weather cancellation sometimes there may be 3 lessons. (It balances out threw out the dance year ). A late fee is applied if dance lessons fall behind for the month that is due for payment.

If classes happen to be filled, you will start a list for a another new class to begin, the dancer will be placed in the next class starting.

Dancers arrive 10 minutes before Class.

Please Note: Parents - family guest are encouraged to visit and watch the first lesson of each month to see the progress their children are making. The dancers will do so much more without distractions and noise from younger children visiting. Students apply themselves and work much harder if their parents aren't present, and are proud to show them their dances of the first lesson of the month. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Wearing apparel

Girls are to wear regular dance leotards over pink tights. leotards can be purchased at many local stores and on line. Boys are to wear sweat pants and fitted T-shirts tucked in. Pre-teens, teens and adults may wear leggings, black stretch pants with short to-the-waist shirts, bodysuits, or dance leotards. No Jeans! Long hair is to be tied back . (Avoid ) plastic headbands or loose jewelry that could distract the dance or dance class.

Recital Information

Recitals are normally held in May or June tickets are sold to help pay expenses. Our dance school provides two family complimentary parent tickets to the recital. Adult dancers receives one complimentary ticket.


Costumes are ordered late fall or early winter and must be paid for at the time ordered dance costumes cannot be returned or cancelled.

Dance Class & Solo Portraits

Portraits are taken by a local photographer soon after the costumes arrive.

Dance photos of our dancers at class in costume picture day and our recitals and events will be used for our dance school promotions.

Please Note Bad weather / and school closings The town the dance school is located in will close when the public schools of that town closes or lets out early due to bad weather all classes are automatically cancelled for that afternoon and evening, you will not be individually contacted.

Jean Marie has danced, directed and choreographed for many years.


Jean Marie

Jean Marie Studied dancing at the Joe Martin School of Dance in Texarkana, Texas. Studied under the direction of Eleanor Borg at the Eleanor Borg School of Dance in The Dells, Oregon. Eleanor directed weekly shows at the Dells Theater in which Jean Marie was a member of the professional dance line.

Studied at the Eddie Smith Dance College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Thermopolis Dance Studio, Thermopolis, Wyoming and the Shipley Smith Professional School of dance in San Francisco, California. Both Shipley and Smith were national faculty members of the N.A.D.A.A.

(National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists.) Taught on the faculty of N.A.D.A.A. at workshops in San Francisco, California and in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Was also a mistress of Ceremony at a workshop in San Francisco. Is a gold seal member and holds many N.A.D.A.A. degrees.


While in California, studying and also teaching dance, Jean Marie performed with her instructor, Benny Smith. Upon Traveling to Wyoming, Jean Marie worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Thermopolis, where she performed and instructed the western high-kicking dancing and marching 'Rangerettes' performing and touring in the Wind River Canyon area. Jean Marie and the Rangerettes performed at the Queen's Ball and the arena at the Thermopolis Rodeo, where they were introduced by Governor Millard Simpson of Wyoming. In Jean Marie's many years of being in the dance studio business, she has made numerous television and radio appearances and interviews.

Many of our advanced dancers / teachers Have enjoyed dancing and assisting with the younger dancers, Janet Rose D – Jackie N - Marilyn M – Patsy S Cheryl S – Melanie G -Rita N - Angie N - Faye P Kathy R - Chrystal A - Camille G - Linda T - Sheri H. Belinda N - Trista M - Brylee B. All the advanced dancers with many years of dance training as well as many years of performances. Our teachers have all assisted with dance classes and our yearly recitals. Working and sharing their artistic talents with dancers of all ages.


Sponsored and Produced and Volunteered Jean Marie has worked with the Cadott Lions Club, the Lady smith Jaycees, St. Mary's Hospital and V.F.W. benefits, producing grandstand shows for the Ladysmith and Sheldon fairs. Others include Stanley Parade committee, Cadott Good Neighbor Days, Boy Scouts of America, Bloomer Fireman's Ball, the Cancer Association, Infantile Paralysis, area P.T.A. functions, Hawkins Fall Festival, Holcombe 4-H, Cornell and Cadott Band Mothers, and many more.

And dad’s construction business (building large concrete dams) which gave our family a chance to travel, and the opportunity to study dance in so many great places in the U.S.A. Jean Marie is the mother of two adult children, Kathy and Joe, and has nine grandchildren.
